Application
This SCSI cable is also called SCSI-2 cable. Sometimes the term SCSI-2 is also used for the small connector type HP-DSub-50.
The abbreviation HP stands for half pitch. This means that the pins of the connector are not positioned next to each other in the normal pitch of 2.54mm, but 50% closer together.
The SCSI-2 connector is fixed with clips on the side and not screwed. The HP-DSub-50 connector is found on the majority of SCSI-II controllers, e.g. on the Adaptec 2940U.
Large Centronics-50 sockets are rarely used on controllers because the large connectors usually have space problems in slots of PC cases. If you have SCSI on the mainboard, you can lead SCSI out by means of a slot bracket with HP-DSub-50 socket. The 50-pin ribbon cable is then plugged into the slot bracket adapter.
